There are certain moments in a person’s life or career that come as a pleasant surprise.
I’ve had these surprises before: Oprah Winfrey tweeting me about my work as a patient advocate, my Selena Gomez quote in Teen Vogue making the international rounds, winning various awards, and, most recently, when the United Nations Women Twitter account tweeted out an article that I had written for Healthline.com.
To say that I am honored and flattered that UN: Women recognized my work would be an understatement. I’m constantly in awe of the work that the United Nations does for people all over the world, and feel especially heartened by the work that they do for women and children.
I don’t often say that I am genuinely proud and humbled by my work, but this was one of the rare occasions that I can say as much.
Thank you to the United Nations for recognizing my work, and to UN Women for all of the great work you do. I hope to be able to attend the Lions Clubs Day at the UN this year, but if not, I am nonetheless still excited and grateful to have had the UN share my Healthline article with the world.
Here’s their tweet.
